Christine settles in as head of Waterloo Road but quickly finds new deputy Simon is after her job. As well as unruly students and her drink problem, old friend George is not all he seems.
Poor old George (Angus Deayton) doesn’t have much luck when it comes to the women in his life. His uppity mother is visiting from London and insists on visiting Waterloo Road to watch her darling boy in action. “You don’t teach, George,” she coos. “You change lives.” Her adoration quickly evaporates when she meets his new paramour, acid-tongued dinner lady Carol Barry (Zöe Lucker).
Classroom tearaway turned amateur sleuth Lenny suspects his local newsagent is running a prostitution ring. Spurred on by Mr Lowsley’s (Richard Mylan) lessons in vigilance, he recruits the worryingly indiscreet Darren (Mark Beswick) to investigate. The school’s mission to create “self-assured young people, willing to thrust themselves into the world,” may well be about to backfire.
