Summary
Newlywed teachers the Diamonds plan a dinner party to get to know their colleagues, only for the unexpected arrival of Jez's estranged children to throw things into disarray. Michael is keen to reunite the Taylor boys with their father, so Phoenix sets out to prove his dad is just a good-for-nothing alcoholic, Grantly clashes with the headmaster over the A-level recruitment drive and Matt is impressed by Scout's enthusiasm for the guitar
Review
The glossy new teachers in the Waterloo Road staff room are beginning to make an impact, although not always in a good way. Jez’s estranged family turns up, right in the middle of an A-level initiative, prompting head teacher Michael to snap, “I brought you here to raise standards and energise the staff and what do I get… a live-action soap opera!”
The posh dinner party that Jez and Sian hold for their new colleagues is equally dramatic, thanks to a few unwanted ingredients. Are the school’s golden couple losing their lustre? Grantly, of course, has never shone and his unprofessional attitude goes down like a lead balloon with the head.
