Episode 21: Episode 21

Summary

A new term begins for the pupils and staff - except headmaster Michael, who is convalescing at home with a fractured pelvis and no memory of the hit-and-run that put him out of action. All fingers point at Jez as the prime suspect, while Chalky continues to provide Linda with an alibi - but when his suspicions are aroused, her story begins to unravel. A local gang infiltrates the school, and soon sets its sights on Tariq, while Grantly makes an enemy of the dinner lady by criticising her food

Review

Waterloo Road is a dangerous place to be these days. The teachers run each other over in the car park (you’ll remember at the end of the last series head teacher Michael was lying on the ground with the pattern of Linda’s car tyres imprinted on his pelvis) when they’re not stabbing each other in the back, figuratively speaking anyway. And now the school is at the mercy of the Dale Skeng Crew, a gang headed by tough guy Mason, who’s just been released from a young offenders unit. At first it’s all swagger and spray cans, but then things turn very nasty when they decide to teach former bad boy Finn a lesson. It is, of course, just about the only lesson that gets taught in this school. A gold star if you can guess which teacher comes to Finn’s rescue.

After their dramatic bust-up in the last series, Sian and Jez Diamond (Jaye Jacobs and Alex Walkinshaw) have made up and returned to the staff room, where Sian is now acting head.
