“I understand this is hard for some of you,” Lorraine brusquely tells the staff — who are furious that she’s intending to turn the school into a fee-paying one. “No, it’s not,” snaps Christine, “because we won’t let it happen.” Half of them walk out, leaving a handful of supply teachers (including Angus Deayton) to carry on with lessons.
However, apart from this and the ludicrous subplot about science teacher Esther encouraging Lula in animal-rights activism, this episode is mainly about the impending wedding of Ndale to Audrey. You’ll need tissues for what’s a pretty obvious but (thanks to Georgie Glen’s performance) affecting denouement.
