It’s the end of term and that, as we know from past viewing, invariably means something massive is going to happen. Yet most of the episode is strangely low-key. True, there’s excitement that grumpy old Grantly is being allowed to come home from hospital and the pupils are cheerily organising a charity auction in his honour.
The two new staff members (deputy Simon and language teacher George) are certainly making their presence felt, and of course bad boy Kyle Stack is skulking about, although it’s not clear why he’s returned. But just when you think it’s time to pack up your textbooks and go, a long-serving character makes a spectacular exit.
