Vaughan Fitzgerald’s latest community-minded scheme is a bike bank where anyone can borrow a bicycle for free whenever they want. However, as with most of his projects, it goes horribly wrong and someone ends up in hospital.

It’s that Scott’s fault. He’s determined to cause trouble, sabotaging the bikes, stealing Dale’s pro-bike and winding up the other pupils whenever possible. There’s dissent in the staff room, too, as Christine and new deputy Lorna lock horns. As do Vaughan and his estranged wife Olga. “Education is all about opening doors,” she tells him. “Yes it is,” he answers. “Let me show you through this one.”
