Two unsolved double murders from the 1980s cast a shadow over Dyfed Powys police force, so in 2006, Detective Superintendent Steve Wilkins decides to reopen both cases.
The cold case investigation into two double murders and a string of other offences is running out of steam. Its leader, Det Supt Steve Wilkins (Luke Evans), has yet to find the one piece of evidence that will tie his suspect, John Cooper, to the shotgun murders of coastal path walkers Peter and Gwenda Dixon.
The forensic budget is draining away but one potentially crucial item of clothing linked to the 1989 killings has yet to be found and tested. Wilkins and his team need a breakthrough.
Writer Nick Stevens’s drama, which ends tonight, is low key, but powerful, helped by a sturdy performance from Evans, and by Keith Allen at his most ferocious as Cooper.
