Episode 2: The Night Lands

Summary

Tyrion turns his anger on Cersei for alienating Joffrey's subjects in the wake of the capital's bloody purge, and Theon returns to the Iron Islands for first time in nine years, where he discovers his father Balon is planning to rebel against the crown once again. Arya shares a secret with her new friend Gendry while travelling north to the Wall, and Davos Seaworth recruits an ally who may prove useful in Stannis Baratheon's naval invasion of King's Landing

Review

We’re still getting to grips with new faces, but the characters are so well drawn, there’s little lost if you forget how this sprawling political fantasy slots together. It’s certainly as bloody as ever as malevolent boy king Joffrey reacts to rumours regarding his heritage. Meanwhile, the crimson comet arcing overhead is seen as an omen. Does it mark Ned Stark’s death, predict further victories for Robb or prophesy the return of the dragons?
