Episode 4: And Now His Watch Is Ended

Summary

The men of the Night's Watch become increasingly hostile to Craster, and Arya is brought before the commander of the Brotherhood Without Banners. Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys takes charge of her army of the Unsullied, while in King's Landing, Cersei tells her father that Margaery is manipulating Joffrey, and Varys meets his match when he talks to Lady Olenna. Fantasy drama based on George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series of novels, starring Maisie Williams, Conleth Hill and Emilia Clarke

Review

A picturesque stroll around King’s Landing offers up a series of vignettes in which no words are wasted and every conversation provides new insights. It’s hard to single out performances when everyone is brilliant, but Diana Rigg is perfect as arch and wily newcomer Lady Olenna Tyrell.

Elsewhere, things turn physical following a mutiny among the Night’s Watch; and a brilliant tactical manoeuvre by Daenerys Targaryen shows any doubters that the dragon lady is a force to be reckoned with. A hugely accomplished hour of TV drama that will leave you buzzing.
