Dexter

We have Jeff Lindsay's Darkly Dreaming Dexter to thank for Showtime's Dexter, featuring Michael C Hall as the serial killer with err, a heart of very cold gold. The novel was the basis for the first of the show's eight seasons. After that the writers followed their own fictional narrative, no longer taking the tales from Lindsay's works.

Agatha Christie's Poirot/Marple

We do love a good mystery drama and who does 'em better than Agatha Christie, eh? Her incredible crime novels gave us not one but two iconic TV super sleuths: Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot. And didn't they both light up our little screens for many delightful years?

True Blood

Sookie Stackhouse might be notorious for steaming up TV screens these days but to a whole host of book lovers she's best recognised as the lead character in Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire Mysteries. The first novel in the series was published in 2001 and was followed by 12 more tales, the most recent of which hit book shelves in 2013.

Bones

David Boreanez more than proved that there's life after Buffy and Angel when he teamed up with Zooey Deschanel's older sister, Emily, for Fox's long-running crime procedural comedy-drama Bones. Based on the novels by forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs, the show is now in its 10th season and still going strong.
