Wheelchair Rugby

Great Britain take to the court today in the brutal, high-octane bumper-car race that is wheelchair rugby. If you’ve never seen the hits between players that are standard in the sport they call “Murderball”, you’re in for a shock. Britain has never won a medal but Captain Steve Brown and top scorer Aaron Phipps will be keen to put that right. Shame their first match is against world number one team and reigning gold medallists, USA.

Great Britain v USA starts at 2:00pm live on C4 Para2 with updates on C4

7-a-side football

Also facing USA will be Britain’s 7-a-side football team (played by athletes with cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions), in their final group game. The last time the teams met GB enjoyed a 7-0 romp, so here’s hoping for a repeat performance from captain Matt Dimbylow and his squad.

Great Britain take on the USA at 4:30pm on C4

Hand Cycling

Meanwhile over at Brands Hatch, Alex Zanardi, who in the 1990s drove for Williams in Formula 1, will be preparing to race. Zanardi lost both legs in a horrific crash in 2001 and subsequently took up the gruelling sport of hand cycling. Today, aged 45, he fulfils a dream by representing Italy in the H4 Time Trial.

The Men's Individual H4 Time Trial begins at 3:10pm, updates on C4

Swimming

Brothers Sam and Ollie Hynd are back competing together in the pool today in the SM8 200m individual relay. On Friday younger sibling Ollie won silver and the family bragging rights – Sam was just behind in bronze - before Ollie added to his tally with a bronze in last night's S8 backstroke final. Both brothers qualified with ease this morning, but which way will the rivalry swing in the final this afternoon?
