Transfer rumours: Wenger gunning for Manchester United's Danny Welbeck

THE STORY Arsenal lead the race to sign Manchester United’s Danny Welbeck as Arsene Wenger looks to reinforce his attack having lost Oliver Giroud to injury at the weekend.
Frenchman Giroud could be out until after the New Year and Welbeck, out-of-favour at Manchester United, seems to be a likely replacement for the Gunners.
Having been told he is free to leave by manager Louis Van Gaal, Welbeck’s departure from Old Trafford looks certain but his destination is still somewhat undecided.

However, The Daily Mail believes the England international has given ‘serious consideration’ to a move to the Emirates stadium. Having realised the severity of Giroud’s injury, Wenger will be desperate to find a top-class striker before the transfer window closes on Monday night.
