Doctor Who meets disaster movies as a starship modelled after the Titanic hurtles towards Earth. It’s bombastic, if unsinkable, Christmas entertainment, with a megastar turn from Kylie Minogue as waitress Astrid Peth. There are also meaty parts for Geoffrey Palmer and Russell Tovey. Plus, Bernard Cribbins makes a cameo as newsvendor Wilfred Mott, long before he was envisaged as Donna’s granddad.
