Miss Piggy has been honoured with a prestigious prize for feminism. Yup, our favourite sassy Muppet – known for her bouffant locks, glamorous outfits, statement string of pearls and turbulent romance with her beloved Kermit the Frog – has been presented with a Sackler Center First Award from the Elizabeth A Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum.

Past recipients have included author Toni Morrison, Associate Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and Grammy Award-winning singer Jessye Norman. So, Miss Piggy's in good company.

When news of the award first broke in April, there were a few raised eyebrows. But in the words of Elizabeth Sackler, who founded the Center in 2007, Miss Piggy "overcomes obstacles; she's certainly first of her kind; she's got grit; she's tenacious; but she also has that soft spot – that love for Kermit."
