We were looking forward to watching the sixth episode of The Met: Policing London on BBC1 this Wednesday, only to see that it had disappeared from the schedules.

The fly-on-the-wall documentary series, which follows the work of the police in the capital, had originally been billed as six episodes long.

We were left wondering whether this mysterious episode six had been dropped at the last minute, moved in the schedules or contained some sensitive material so had to be edited.

But no – the truth is far less exciting! The BBC have confirmed that there were only ever five instalments of the show commissioned and planned from the start. Indeed, there were only five episodes of the first series, too.

Seeing as series one aired in 2015 and we've had to wait until now for a second edition, it looks like it could be 2019 before we see any more episodes of The Met: Policing London.
