Taking a sideways swipe at the digital generation, the show finds Fry playing charismatic magazine owner Roland who forces his renowned adventure reporter Jack (Joel McHale) to watch over a team of millenials when the magazine moves online.

Joining him in this brave new world of clickbait and s is Clark (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), a tech nerd with some useful tips for surviving a zombie-apocalypse, Mason (Shaun Brown), a hipster lumberjack who barely sets foot outside, and social media-savvy Emma (Christine Ko).

Sasha Breslau, ITV Acquisitions Manager said: “The Great Indoors was hands down my favourite sitcom pilot for the new US season, successfully treading the line between sweet and sharp, warm and witty.

“Familiar faces include the inimitable Stephen Fry, the extremely talented Joel McHale and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, but the deadpan delights of Christine Ko and Shaun Brown are a new treat in this brilliant ensemble cast.”

Rosemary Newell, ITV’s Director of Digital Channels and Acquititions said: “The Great Indoors is a smart premise, with a strong cast and we think it’ll be a great addition to the wealth of youth skewing comedy we’re continuing to build on ITV2.”

There's no word yet about when we can expect to see The Great Indoors on these shores, but here’s a quick peek to tide you over until we know more.
