Newsflash: Taylor Swift has announced that if she were a character in Girls, she would be Shoshanna.

In her cover interview for Rolling Stone magazine, she said that she was obsessed with HBO's Girls about a group of twenty-somethings in New York who are struggling to get through life.

"I could label all my girlfriends as Shoshannas, Jessas, Marnies or Hannahs," she says. And which would she be? "I've thought about this a lot. I'm Shoshanna.

"Shoshanna gets excited about things, she's really girly. And when she was in a relationship that was very comfortable, she made the decision to get out and go experience new things on her own. And now she's becoming more sure of herself and taking life head-on, in a way that I can relate to. Even though I've never accidentally smoked crack at a warehouse party and run pantsless through Brooklyn."

If you think about it, there really are some similarities. Swift has gone from playing awkward, love-sick teens in her country-inspired music videos to a cool, strong pop queen who just doesn't give a damn in her latest single, Shake it Off.

In a similar transformation over the three series of Girls, Shoshanna has transformed from terrified and slightly confused to a confident, smart (albeit very excitable) woman who is no longer scared of boys.

Swift also revealed she is BFFs with Girls creator Lena Dunham and they text and tweet each other. So, given Swift's Girls obsession and her channeling of Shoshanna, might she get a cameo in the next season of Girls? After all, this wouldn't be Swift's first foray into telly land (she appeared in the final episode of New Girl series two playing a surprise guest who turned up at Cece's wedding.)

If Lena Dunham's reading this, we reckon Zosia Mamet's Shoshanna could do with a new Shoshanna-like friend in the next series of Girls. And hey, casting won't be an issue.

So in anticipation, here are Shoshanna's best moments of awkwardness, hilarity and freaking-out . Enjoy...
