Libby Kennedy is to return to Ramsay Street as part of a special storyline celebrating twenty years of the Kennedy family. Actress Kym Valentine – who was last seen in Neighbours back in 2011 – will appear in a special three-week guest role, joining her on-screen parents Jackie Woodburne (who plays Susan Kennedy) and Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy).

Although Valentine has previously used Twitter to encourage Neighbours bosses to script her return, the move might come as a surprise to fans. Until a settlement was reached in November last year, the 36-year-old actress was embroiled in a legal battle with production company FreemantleMedia Australia, seeking compensation for sex and disability discrimination.

Speaking about her imminent return to the long-running soap, Valentine said, "I'm really looking forward to catching up with old friends at Neighbours, as well as getting to know many of the new cast. Playing Libby was a very important part of my life and I can't wait to reintroduce audiences to her."

"It's wonderful to have Kym back for this milestone year for Alan and I," added Woodburne, "and we're just lucky the Kennedys have that wing of bedrooms that we don't see to accomodate everyone."

Libby's son Ben is also set to feature in the storyline, portrayed by new actor Felix Mallard, with Holly Hoyland (Lucinda Armstrong-Hall), Malcolm Kennedy (Benjie McNair) and Zeke Kinski (Matt Werkmeister) also confirmed to return for the Kennedys' special celebration.

"We warmly welcome Kym back on the Neighbours family," said series producer, Jason Herbison, "and we are sure audiences will be excited to see Libby back on Ramsay Street." Valentine's scenes are expected to be broadcast in Australia this summer before appearing on UK screens this Autumn.
