Organisers are telling members of the public to “dress to impress” at January's ceremony because they may be called on to give a prize in front of millions of TV viewers.

Three years ago, a member of the audience called Carly, who came from Dagenham in Essex, was chosen by O'Leary to give a prize out to Ant and Dec.

"But, while she looked lovely, she admitted later that she regretted that she didn’t wear a fancier outfit," said an NTA source.

The NTAs will return to London’s 02 on 22 January, with tickets once more available to the public (visit the02.co.uk or call 08448 24 48 24). They will be broadcast live on ITV
