1960s - In the show's early years, the pub was run by Jack and Annie Walker, who had taken over at the Rovers in 1938. Brenda Riley became temporary manager when the Walkers took a holiday in 1966. She introduced a billiard table in the public bar. By 1970, Annie had become the sole licensee following Jack's sudden death.

1970s/early 1980s - Annie's son Billy had a spell as manager in 1973 but this tenure came to an end after Annie discovered his gambling debts. Relief manager Glyn Thomas arrived in June of the same year and although his changes were largely disliked by the punters, his lasting legacy was the introduction of Betty's Hotpot to the menu. In 1981, Annie embarked on a Mediterranean cruise so the brewery sent relief manager Gordon Lewis to run the pub in her absence. His strict regime prompted the staff to walk out in protest.

1984 - Potman Fred Gee became temporary manager after Annie retired but his reign ended when he was struck down with pneumonia. In 1985, Bet Lynch became the brewery's first single manager during January, only to have her life threatened by the fire at the Rovers the following year.

1995 - Jack and Vera Duckworth purchased the pub from Newton & Ridley following a windfall. Vera's name went over the door due to Jack's previous run-ins with the law. In 1997, Jack's money troubles prompted him to sell 50 per cent of the Rovers to Alec Gilroy, much to Vera's fury.

2008 - By 2008, Steve McDonald had purchased the Rovers and installed his mother Liz as landlady and licensee. She then employed Poppy Morales as bar manager but she upset Betty Williams and was sacked after a few months.
