Roy (David Neilson) is to surprise wife Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) with a surprise trip to Blackpool next week, but things don’t go according to plan.

Having had a tram ride and a walk on the pier, the Croppers head to the Tower Ballroom, where Roy has a spot of dancing planned. Hayley’s ecstatic, but when they arrive, they’re disappointed to realise it’s closed for maintenance.

Determined to still enjoy the trip, Hayley insists on visiting a tarot booth. Roy’s cynical, but will the clairvoyant end up surprising them both?

A show insider said to RadioTimes.com of the episodes: "It’s an emotional and heart-warming week for one of Coronation Street’s best-loved couples as Roy and Hayley Cropper live life to the full. Expect tears and laughter as they enjoy their special day in true Roy and Hayley style."

Corrie does, of course, have a long association with Blackpool that dates back to 1961 when Ena Sharples, Minnie Caldwell and Martha Longhurst took a trip to the top of the Tower.

Most memorably, the seaside town featured prominently in the climax to Alan Bradley’s storyline from 1989 which featured Rita’s persecutor being hit by a tram on the promenade.
