There's sadness and shock for the regulars at the Rovers Return this coming Wednesday when Anna Windass (Debbie Rush) announces that Hayley Cropper (Julie Hesmondhalgh) has died. As the news spreads, the residents of the Street are left devastated by the loss of a loved friend and Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) is inconsolable.

Corrie producer Stuart Blackburn has talked recently of the aftermath of Hayley's death, revealing that those closest to her will struggle with her decision to take her own life:

"It may have been right decision for Hayley, but it was the wrong decision for those around her. Fiz is angry, while Roy and Anna both feel guilty."

He added: "We're not advocates for Hayley's decision in any way, shape or form. Roy's ongoing story demonstrates that on one level it was wrong because she's left behind a man filled with guilt, anger and recrimination."
