Christine Woods to star opposite Stephen Merchant in Hello Ladies HBO comedy pilot
The FlashForward actress will co-star with the British actor, writer and director in his upcoming US television project
FlashForward actress Christine Woods has landed a leading role in Stephen Merchant’s upcoming HBO comedy pilot, Hello Ladies.
Bearing the same title the lanky Bristolian’s 2011 stand-up show, Hello Ladies will see Merchant searching for the woman of his dreams in Los Angeles. Only half as charming as he imagines himself to be though, Merchant finds himself something of a fish out of water in the LA dating scene.
Woods will play an occasional actress who rents Stephen’s guest house and gives the Extras star a hard time in a light-hearted sort of way, reports Deadline.
She’ll join She’s Out of My League’s Nate Torrence and Alias actor Kevin Weisman in the show’s cast. Torrence has been signed up to play Stephen’s best friend Wade, who’s back on the prowl following a divorce, while Weisman will play a character who tags along with Stephen and Wade on nights out, earning their ire for being genuinely successful with women.
Written by Merchant with Bad Teacher scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupinsky, Hello Ladies is due to be shot before the end of the year.
