Kate Middleton paid tribute to British pop royalty on her hen night, according to revelations in Cheryl Cole's new autobiography.

The former X Factor judge claims the Duchess of Cambridge dressed as her and danced to her single Fight for Your Love during a party celebrating her impending marriage to Prince William.

Writing in Cheryl: My Story, Cole recalls a conversation with the Prince backstage at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert in June, at which she performed.

According to Cole, William asked her “Did you know you’ve got a bit of competition?” before Kate elaborated.

“Wills looked at Kate and they both started laughing, before Kate confessed that she dressed up as me on her hen night, in a bodysuit and split trousers, and sang Fight for This Love," writes Cole.

"She even learnt the dance routine and was step-perfect by all accounts, as her sister Pippa and brother James also came over and told me all about it," she added.

“I could just imagine her and it was so surreal.”

Further royal revelations from the singer's book include details of Prince Harry's visit to The X Factor in 2009. Cole says she met William's brother as he was unwinding in Simon Cowell's dressing room.

"I walked in and the scene was mental. There were women partying everywhere and Simon was grinning like the Cheshire cat," writes Cole.

“Prince Harry was lying on the dressing room floor, with his top buttons undone, relaxing with a glass of wine in one hand and a cigarette in the other.”
