The legacy of Jaws is twofold. It ruined for ever the simple act of swimming in the sea, and it gave us the simple phrase, “You’re gonna need a bigger boat.”
The quote, uttered by Roy Scheider’s police chief when he first sees the size of the shark he and his fellow fishermen are hunting, has become one of the most durable and adaptable of all movie lines.
