ANDREW COLLINS: FILM OF THE DAY
Mr & Mrs Smith
★★★

Not the unlikely Hitchcock-directed screwball comedy of 1941; rather the slick, pistol-packing hitperson romance from Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity). Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie play the bored married couple who each discover that the other is an assassin and are subsequently hired to rub their spouse out. Cue: non-stop, athletic, explosive, gun-toting action, with always-good-value Vince Vaughn as a third button man. Pitt and Jolie – reportedly “falling in love” (their words) while making the film – spark off each other with sensual chemistry… unless we’re just post-rationalising. As “Brangelina”, they have attained iconhood. It’s a nice change to see them acting.

Cuban Fury ★★★
9.00-10.55pm Film4

Proving that he doesn't need Simon Pegg to prop him up, Nick Frost takes centre stage as a former dance prodigy getting his groove back in this sweet, salsa dancing rom-com. Chris O’Dowd co-stars as his slippery love rival.

2 Fast 2 Furious ★★★
9.00-11.10pm ITV2

Discredited cop Paul Walker sets out to bring down a Miami drugs lord in this turbo-driven sequel. There's no Vin Diesel this time, but Tyrese makes an agreeable comedy foil. The cars, as ever, are the real stars of the show.

The Expendables 2 ★★★
9.00-11.00pm Spike

If you like old-school action and even older action heroes, you'll get a kick out of this caper that sees Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Chuck Norris doing what they do best: creating mindless mayhem on a no-budget-spared scale.

Oldboy ★★★★
10.40pm-1.00am Horror Channel

South Korean director Park Chan-Wook's devastating thriller stars Cho Min-Sik as a man who, having been incarcerated without reason for 15 years, sets about finding out who was responsible. Warning: this film may put you off eating octopus again for life.
