Freeview film of the day: This Is the End
A gaggle of big-name Hollywood stars play versions of themselves partying hard and unaware the apocalypse is coming to town

This Is the End ★★★★
Premiere
12.25-2.30am ITV2
We waited for a bromantic Armageddon-based comedy and two came along at once in the summer of 2013. The World’s End, the third part in Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright’s Cornetto trilogy, was beaten to release by this bigger, noisier, pricier indulgence co-written and co-directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Rogen, Jonah Hill and pals play grotesque parodies of themselves trapped in James Franco’s house by a rapture-like biblical apocalypse. Emma Watson and Rihanna are among the cameoing A-listers. It’s crazy and cartoon-violent, and makes Pegg’s entry in the canon seem like a chamber piece.
