It had been highly speculated, especially with original star Peter Mayhew teasing that new info was coming on his Twitter page. Whether he's involved remains to be seen, but it was Disney's chief Bob Iger who confirmed the news:

“We have others in the works [alongside Rogue One], including one, which is an origin story about Han Solo and Chewie," The Wrap reports. "And that’ll come after ‘Star Wars 8’ in 2018. And then there’ll be possibly be more thereafter.”

The film will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and it's understood they're still seeking their leading man. Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort and Dave Franco are among those rumoured to step into the earlier version of Harrison Ford's role.
