It’s not long until we meet Benedict Cumberbatch’s sorcerer supreme Doctor Strange in his eponymous Marvel movie this autumn, but now details are emerging that we might see him pop up in ANOTHER superhero smackdown – Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston-starring sequel Thor: Ragnarok.

You see, Thor: Ragnarok is currently filming in Australia (standing in for New York), and in a series of on-set snaps featuring Hemsworth, Hiddleston and director Taika Waititi you can spot a very significant shot of Thor looking intently at a scrap of paper with some writing on it (top right).

Now, if you look closer at the paper you can see that the writing spells out 177A Bleeker Street, and that’s no ordinary address. In the source comics the Marvel Cinematic Universe is based on, that’s the house where Doctor Strange maintains his headquarters (the secret Sanctum Santorum, with the weird window seen in some promotional material for the Doctor Strange film), so it could be that Thor will be making his very own house call on the good Doctor in his 2018 film.

And when we think about it, this makes total sense – Marvel are bound to want to keep audiences familiar with Cumberbatch in between the 2016/2018 releases of Doctor Strange and Avengers: Infinity War (which he’ll presumably appear in), and parachuting the popular actor into Ragnarok could also be a way of getting people excited for yet another Thor film (not to mention seeing him team up with real-life friend and fellow fan favourite actor Tom Hiddleston).

All that, plus the fact that it definitely makes sense for a magician to help out the corner of the Marvel universe that has featured magic already, makes us hopeful that Peter Capaldi might not be the only universe-saving Doctor we’ll be seeing in 2017.
